23rd March 2012: The Commodore Hotel in Cobh was host to the world premier of the new ITV Mini Series 'Titanic'. The five part drama by the creator of the hugely popular and award-winning 'Downton Abbey', Julian Fellows, is to be aired on ITV and TV3 starting on 24th March.

March 2012: Zoltan Panka, a 38-year-old Hungarian living in Dillon's Cross, Cork city, and his partner, Cork woman Carmel McGrath, build a 16ft replica of the Titanic for the centenary celebrations in Cobh.

27th March 2012: The World Premiere of Titanic 3D at the Royal Albert Hall, London. James Cameron's classic Titanic movie starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio gets the £D treatment. Celebrities lineout for the event.

April 2012: Titanic Experience Cobh is a new permanent visitor attraction. Situated in the original offices of The White Star Line, the location marks the departure point for the last 123 passengers who boarded the Titanic on its fateful maiden voyage to America. The story is told using innovative audio visual technology bringing the characters to life through cinematic shows, scene sets, holographic imagery and touch screen technology.

April 2012: Titanic Belfast is be a "must see" visit in any tour of Belfast and Northern Ireland. It is located in the heart of Belfast, on the slipways where RMS Titanic was built. Inside this iconic building, visitors will re-live the entire Titanic story from her birth in Belfast to the fateful maiden voyage and her eventual discovery on the seabed.

7th April 2012: Thousands come out to watch the "Titanic Light Show" at the new Titanic building in Belfast on saturday, the world's biggest ever digital projection lighting show was staged in the historic setting of the Titanic Slipways as part of the city's festival of events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Titanic's fateful maiden voyage. Using cutting-edge architectural projection, 3D motion graphics, synchronized pyrotechnics and bespoke sound design, the show was the largest, most complex projection ever attempted and was followed by a breathtaking firework display.

9th April 2012: A cruise recreating the voyage of the Titanic has set sail with the exact same number of passengers as the famous liner that sank on its maiden voyage. Passengers onboard the MS Balmoral, which left Southampton for the 12-night cruise yesterday, included relatives of people who died onboard the Titanic 100 years ago this month. The cruise ship retraces the doomed liner's fateful journey and takes part in a memorial service at the spot where it struck an iceberg and sank.

9th April 2012: The staff at Wilson's Chemist at West Beach, Cobh, dressed up in the style of 1912 for the centenary commemoration of the Titanic's last port of call to Queenstown now Cobh.Wilson's Pharmacy was in existence in 1912, and today they display some of the items that were on sale at the pharmacy when the Titanic called to Cobh.

14th April 2012: Dr Robert Ballard, the oceanographer who discovered RMS Titanic in its watery grave, delivers a memorial lecture in Belfast as part of a series of events marking the night the liner sank a century ago.

15th April: The unveiling of a plaque in Ballydehob by Kitty O'Driscoll, Ballydehob, in remembrance of three ladies - one of them was Ktty's aunt Bridget O'Driscoll, Ballydehob; Mary Kelly, Castlepollard, and Annie Jane (Nancy) Jermyn, Ballydehob, who escaped on one of the lifeboats from the sinking of the Titanic.

9th to 15th April: Maritime Fair Quality stalls will be set up along the deep water quay giving many visitors the opportunity to try different styles of food and experience various other vendors. Enjoy viewing the water activities while relaxing with the family in this market stall environment including children's entertainment, magicians etc


10th April: Irish Ancestry Research Centre (IARC) will hold a workshop in the Commodore Hotel at 12pm. This workshop is suitable for anyone with a keen interest in their family history. IARC will show you how to trace your ancestors on the Titanic using passenger lists in conjunction with other available sources. 11th April 2012: A National Tribute - Exactly 100 years from when the Titanic arrived in Cork Harbour and the last of the Titanic's passengers and supplies left Cobh and boarded the mighty vessel.


11th to 14th April 2012: Ireland's Connection: Outdoor concert performance will be telling the story of the Titanic and emigration and its connection with Ireland through music and performance from many genres, supported by the Orchestra of Ireland and a twenty piece professional choir. This spectacular outdoor concert will include performers such as Cara O'Sullivan and Eddi Reader and a narrative by Brendan Graham.


11th to 14th April 2012: Titanic Rowing Challenge - Come and see Rushbrooke Rowing club row for 82 hours in the town centre. Each participant will row for 5 hours over 4 days to retrace the journey time and distance that it took for the Titanic to reach the Iceberg.


14th April: The Irish Coast Guard will be performing a number of spectacular displays. Utilising many disciplines, you will get the chance to see the many techniques used during search and rescue displays.

Vintage Cars of the period of the Titanic will be gracing the streets of Cobh.


15th April: The Centenary of the Titanic tragedy will be acknowledged with a Remembrance Service at Cobh's St Colman's Cathedral at 2pm, followed by ceremony in the center of Cobh Township 3.30pm.


15th April: Great Island 10 Run - This year's race will take place on April 15th @ 10.30am again for the benefit of the Irish Cancer Society, with special emphasis on palliative care. A 5km walk will also take place on the same day for those less inclined to run and who want to show their support.


20th -21st April: Titanic 100 Cobh Golf Classic. A special golf tournament will be hosted by Cobh Golf Club. A large Gala Dinner and prize-giving by a well known Sport Celebrity, music and other entertainment will be held on the evening of the 21st of April.. 20th -21st April:Two day Titanic Lecture Series: A series of lectures which will investigate the many aspects of the Titanic story will take place. Well-known authors including Professor John Wilson Foster, who has written a number of books on this subject, will deliver lectures over this weekend. This is a must for any one with the urge to receive an academic view on the subject of the Titanic.

MAY 2012

16th -19th May: Belfast to Cobh Cycle - Christian Aid Ireland has organised a major fund raising, profile building event, Christian Aid Titanic Cycle Challenge 2012. Starting at Belfast's Harland and Wolff shipyard, on the 16th May, where the Titanic was built, this 280 mile cycle will finish in Cobh, on the 19th May, the Titanic's last port of call."


20th May: Sea Sunday Service - Rev. Brian O'Rielly, the Rector of Cobh Church of Ireland community will be hosting a "Sea Sunday Service" on Sunday 20th May. This service acknowledges and celebrates all seafarers who work around our coastline. The service, this year, will be broadcast live by RTE Radio.

JUNE 2012

2nd June: Ocean to City 2012 - Come to Cobh and watch the Ocean to City race. Boats from all over the country will compete in this unique event, starting at Roches Point in Cork Harbour they will race for 24km to Lapps Quay in Cork City. With live race commentary and festival atmosphere in Cobh town centre it's a weekend not to be missed.


9th June: The Ford Short Film Competition - "8 Minutes" open to all…from school children to retirees. This competition encourages entrants to produce a short film of no more than 8 minutes in length. The emphasis is on creativity and imagination. All film content must have at least one element relating to the Titanic. Prominent film industry professionals will judge the films and the best 12 entries will be shown to a live audience in a purpose built out door cinema. JULY 2012

9th July: A Vintage Fair in the streets of Cobh will attract many visitors intrigued by the Victorian and Edwardian era. Take a short trip on a horse and trap, or maybe a penny-farthing bicycle. Be entertained by a magician of the Victorian era or listen to the music of the time.

AUGUST 2012

Cork International Gourmet Festival: An international gourmet Festival held in the first week of August leading into the bank holiday. Included in this Festival will be a Titanic themed gala dinner which will kick off the festival on Saturday 28th July.

18th - 19th August: Titanic 100 Cobh Peoples' Regatta - One of the longest running regattas in Europe will be enhanced to commemorate the Titanic Centenary Tribute year. The year would not be the same without a maritime festival.

Various Titanic themed lectures, exhibitions, recitals and plays will be ongoing in Cobh and surrounding areas through 2012 with September and October no exception. Come to Cobh in the autumn and you will still have the opportunity to be absorbed by this fascinating story that is Titanic.

Closing Ceremony and Christmas Market: As 2012 comes to an end we will continue to remember the Titanic and the people involved with her. Plans are going ahead to coordinate this event with the first of what is hoped to be an annual Christmas Market in Cobh
